June 19 (UPI) — The U.S. Marine Corps will adopt a new standard-issue pistol for the first time in 30 years, replacing the Beretta M9 with Sig Sauer‘s M18 starting in 2020.
The M18 handgun, based on the Sig Sauer Model P320, will begin arriving at Marine Corps artillery arsenals in the third quarter of 2020, with a complete overhaul of weaponry expected by late 2023. It’s a more compact version of the M17 service pistol.
The Beretta M9 was adopted by the Marine Corps in 1985 as its official duty pistol, as well as the Glock 9mm M007 and M45A1.

The 2021 National Service Postal Pistol Match and the Postal Rifle Match will be held between 1 March 2021 and 31 October 2021. All shooting should be done between those dates.
Registration forms must be submitted between 1 March and 31 October 2021 along with the registration fee of $10 per competitor per class, classes being Service Pistol, Service Rifle.

Tomb Sentinels carry loaded weapons, with the 21-round magazine inserted into the pistol.
The magazines are customized, and feature an aluminum base plate engraved with the names of the Greek figures featured on the Tomb of the Unknown – Peace, Victory,
and Valor – and include a name plate on the bottom of the magazine engraved with the Tomb Sentinel badge number.
Open Pistol, Optics Rifle, .22 LR Pistol and Rifle will be an extra $10 per shooter for all those classes if the shooter wishes to shoot in them all. This will cover all the score cards for all the extra rifle and pistol score cards including teams.

All checks must be made payable to Marine Corps League National Headquarters. Registration fees submitted in advance of the scores will not be refunded if a Detachment, Unit or Individual fails to fire or return the scores postmarked 31 October 2021.
